404 <br /> <br /> Mr. Brandes indicated that he was in favor of Option 1 of the <br /> Ballot language, with the change that (b) be replaced by a language <br /> that would state that the future of the Ridgelands would be studied <br /> By a citizens' committee and then voEed upon by the people of <br /> Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr stated that the language should be as shor~ and <br /> succinct as possible so it would be easy to understand. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarver commented that it should indicate that the City <br /> Council sponsored the initiative. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Brandes, and seconded by Ms. Mohr, to <br /> approve Option 1, as amended, for Section 2 of the resolution for <br /> the Council-sponsored Initiative. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br /> 2~OES: Councilmember Tarver <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Butler <br /> ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> It was then moved by Mr. Brandes, and seconded by Ms. Mohr, <br /> that Section 4 and Section 5 of the proposed resolutions for both <br /> initiatives be amended to indicate that the argument and the <br /> rebuttal may be signed by up to five people. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: Councilmember Tarver <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Butler <br /> ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer stated that the SPRC Initiative did not mention <br /> anything about the restriction regarding the 300 feet from the <br /> public road, which would allow only two houses to be built in the <br /> entire 11,500 acres. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarver commented that that would be true only until such <br /> 2ime as the voters approve a change in the zoning designation. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr pointed out that it would be more difficult for the <br /> voters to understand the issues if more language were put in and <br /> Zhat the 300 feet restriction and other issues could be addressed <br /> in the rebuttal argument. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer indicated that the 200 feet restriction is very <br /> important and should be put on the ballot, even if it can be <br /> addressed in the rebuttal argument. <br /> <br /> <br />
