lol

Mr. Mercer commented that since the State is the only source
of water for Zone 7, it would be logical for Zone 7 to build pumps
to access the ground water.

Ms. Tracy indicated that the ground water available would last
only for two years.

Ms. Mohr inquired if Arroyo Del Valle is considered a
reservoir and if Zone 7 uses water from that source.

Ms. Tracy replied that Zone 7 has the right to use the water
that runs into Arroyo Del Valle within 30 days, after which the
water is shared equally with other South Bay water contractors.

Mr. Robert Cordtz, 262 West Angela, expressed concern that
because Zone 7 is unable to provide water to the Valley, Pleasanton
will have to come up with $500,000 to provide the water.

Ms. Acosta commented that Staff will be looking at what it
would cost the City to put in an additional well.

Mr. Mercer inquired if the City has control over what water
conservation measures the schools would use and if the water
conservation numbers would change with the recent rains.

Ms. Acosta replied that the City has no control over the
schools' water conservation measures but that City Staff would work
with the School District's maintenance personnel to come up with
the same conditions the City is using. She continued that although
there would be new numbers by April 1st, the concept of water
conservation should still be considered. She indicated that the
ordinance would come before the Council in April.

Item 12c(b)
Conceptual Water Conservation Plan Includinq Allocations and
Guidelines for City of Pleasanton Water Customers (SR 91287)

Ms. Peggy Purnell, 2472 Via de los Milagros, reiterated her
earlier comments regarding the SAVE Initiative and stated that the
City should adopt an ordinance which would establish a moratorium
on the construction of new buildings when water rationing is put
into effect.

Mr. Mercer indicated that he has no objection to having Staff
prepare a report on the matter.

- 31-
3-19-91
