She stated
that the District intends to set up an endowment fund with the
maximum financial benefit it can generate from the transaction to
ensure the future program needs of all Pleasanton students. She
added that if all the requests of the District are met, the
District will include in its offer the two-acre parcel on First
Street for the community's use. She indicated that the District
Board, Staff, and Consultants are present to answer any questions.

Mr. Frank Brandes, 6889 Corte Sonada, strongly urged the
Council to adhere to its position of not changing anything in the
Del Prado site, where the neighbors are opposing the District's
plan to build homes. With respect to the exchange of properties,
he stated that it would be a mistake to trade the City's 13.5 acres
for the upper School site property, which the City has leased for
the past 40 years, and that Council should seriously consider the
Park and Recreation Commission's recommendation for the area. He
expressed his opposition to any Growth Management exemptions but
encouraged the Council to review the 42.5-acre in the Sycamore site
in conjunction with the North Sycamore Specific Plan.

Mr. Mike Moran, 2321 Sandpiper Way, expressed his
disappointment about initiating the process of converting the Del
Prado site to a residential neighborhood. He stated that the
reasons "political consideration and neighborhood concerns" given
for the District's position are not clear and that the community
has not been presented the option of building a school on the site.

- 15 -
7-16-91
