MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Horace Jones, 265 Tomas Way, a Pleasanton resident for <br />over a year and a Pleasanton employee for several years, stated <br />that he and his family are having a problem with the Pleasanton <br />Police Department. He indicated that his son-in-law has been <br />pulled over seven times by police officers and was issued one <br />citation for a faulty master cylinder for a low brake pedal, that <br />his son was stopped by a police officer checking for stolen cars <br />and was not issued any citation, and that two of his guests who <br />were on their way to his house were pulled over but were issued no <br />citations. He added that the reasons given by the police officers <br />ranged from their checking on strange individuals in the community <br />in connection with a robbery in Livermore to a search for stolen <br />cars. He pointed out that all the people who were stopped were <br />black. He indicated that no resident should receive this kind of <br />treatment and that he would start documenting the date and time of <br />any future stops, as well as the police officers' names and badge <br />numbers. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer requested Mr. Jones to meet with Ms. Acosta and <br />Police Chief Bill Eastman to discuss the matter. <br /> <br /> - 5 - <br /> 6-18-91 <br /> <br /> <br />
