He placed an ad in the local <br />papers, urging citizens in Pleasanton who were in support of this <br />project to call the City to share their support. He did not <br />understand why staff did not support this project. He explained <br />what disadvantages townhouse/condominium housing had, e.g., sharing <br />walls, no front or rear yards. He felt that attached housing is <br />not the solution to affordability. He thought there should be as <br />much distance between the homes in this project as possible and <br />wanted the setbacks to stay as conditioned. <br /> <br /> David Brum, 227 Rachael Place, spoke in support of this <br />project. He was a first time buyer at the time he purchased his <br />townhome in Country Roads. He stated that if this project was <br />offered when he was buying his townhome, he would have bought one <br />of these homes instead. He felt that the investors are the only <br />people who benefit in building new apartment buildings. Mr. Brum <br />commended Kaufman & Broad for its work and cooperation with the <br />neighbors. He believed that this type of housing was greatly <br />needed in Pleasanton and felt that there were enough apartment <br />buildings in this City. He urged Council to approve this <br />application. <br /> <br /> Allen Smith, 232 Rachael Place, spoke in favor of this <br />project. He felt that this project was well planned and he was <br />pleased with Kaufman and Broad in how it worked with the neighbors <br />in satisfying their concerns. He asked Council to approve this <br />project because it was greatly needed in this community. <br /> <br /> Brent Wilcox, 3988 Stanley Boulevard, representing Mary Lou <br />Wilcox, had no objection to this project. He was pleased to see <br />that this project did not have access to "Little" Stanley as others <br />did. He wanted to save the trees on Stanley Boulevard. <br /> <br /> Don Adams, 4133 Stanley Boulevard, supported this project. He <br />expressed his concern with traffic and potential hazards if this <br />property were to remain High Density Residential. <br /> <br /> Susan Ostrowski, 251 Rachel Place, explained that she was <br />opposed to having High Density Residential in that area. She <br />supported this housing project. <br /> <br /> Earl L. Augusta, 713 Camellia Court, Ripon, (owner of 3963 <br />Stanley Boulevard), indicated that he had no objection to this <br />project. He asked that the trees that are adjacent to his project <br />be protected. He explained that there was a landfill placed in the <br />Madden property which raised it three to five feet above his <br />property. He felt that the dirt for this project should be lowered <br />two feet and then cement footing should be placed with a 6 foot <br />wall between his property and the project. He was opposed to wood <br />fencing along his property but would support a masonry wall.
