71

Ann Gillotte, 981 Hopkins Way, asked that Independence and San
Antonio Streets remain closed. She stated that she supported the
School Board's decision in selling its property for the monies
needed. She asked if the 15,000 sq. ft. lot sizes that abut
Ventana Hills were going to still be maintained in the Plan. She
asked if Council could require large rear yard setbacks for those
properties. She wanted to maintain a rural atmosphere for those
properties which back up to the low density areas.

Mayor Mercer answered that rear yard setbacks would be
discussed in the design of the project.

Sue Frost, 990 Sycamore Road, believed that the south
collector road should not be brought into the Alisal and Happy
Valley area. She was opposed to having the collector street going
through her property. She felt the stubs for the southern
collector should be placed on the developing properties, not the
existing properties. Ms. Frost explained that a park should not be
placed on the school property because it would be next to a
livestock area where someone could potentially be hurt or they
could hurt the. livestock.

Judy Greg, 530 Sycamore Road, spoke in favor of the Specific
Plan but asked that the density be changed to 10,000 to 12,000.
She felt that the School District should save its money and not
build a park there.

Jim Lavey, 547 Sycamore Road, spoke in favor of this project.
He explained the years of processing which resulted in a
compromise. He asked that this item be approved.

Mike Hanes, 986 Sycamore Road, stated that for the last five
years the residents had assumed because this was a rural area and
the lots were bigger, they could keep the existing wells.

Steve De Long, 2142 Palmer Drive, felt that this project was
in the interest for the community and would generate money for the
School District. He supported the Specific Plan and asked for
approval.

Ann Green, 386 Sycamore Road, spoke in opposition to this
project. She read her parents' letter addressed to the Council.
She stated that a section of her property would lose 54 feet, plus
a 75 foot buffer zone should Sycamore Road be widened to
accommodate a collector road. She felt that the collector road
would entice faster traffic to and from the freeway. This plan
should be renamed the South Pleasanton Plan to accommodate the
South Pleasanton developers. She believed that the atmosphere
would drastically change because of the reconfiguration at the west
end of her property.

~7
