106 <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Butler, and seconded by Mayor Mercer, that <br /> Ordinance No. 1564 be adopted, approving the amendment to the <br /> Pleasanton Municipal Code regarding adjustment to Council salaries. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: Councilmembers Mohr, Scribner, and Tarver <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr explained the process taken by the State in adjusting <br /> the Council's salaries. She stated that the State Legislature <br /> bases the increases on the size of the City. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarver pointed out that he felt that a bad precedent was <br /> being set by taking a ten percent (5% for 1992 and 5% for 1993) <br /> increase in salary when the City is making significant budget <br /> reductions. He supported giving the money back to the City budget. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Mohr, and seconded by Ms. Scribner, that <br /> Resolution No. 92-133 be adopted, denying the amendment to the <br /> Pleasanton Municipal Code regarding adjustment to Council salaries <br /> and the $3000 in this year's budget towards the purchase of <br /> children's books for the library. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Mohr, Scribner, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: Councilmember Butler and Tarver <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> 7. SPECIAL AND INFORMATION REPORTS <br /> <br /> ~tem 7a <br /> Discussion Reqardinq Participation in Neqotiations for a Ridqel~ds <br /> Joint Powers Agreement with Alameda County and the City of HaVwar~ <br /> (SR92:264) <br /> <br /> Elaine Tolari, President of the West Pleasanton Property <br /> Owners Association, stated that the Association belongs in <br /> Pleasanton and thought that this would be possible someday. They <br /> were hoping that a resolution would have occurred by this time. <br /> The Property Owners Association continues to believe that it was in <br /> its interest and the interest of Pleasanton to resolve the future <br /> of this area. They did not believe that a new level of government <br /> such as a Joint Powers Authority was necessary or desirable. They <br /> are willing to cooperate and work with those people who still want <br /> to bring this area into the City of Pleasanton.
