194

Chris Beratlis, 10 Beratlis Place, spoke on behalf of his
tenants on Main Street. All of his tenants have expressed concern _
about the proposed interim parking. He has considered hiring a
parking attendant. His tenants signed a contract protecting their
parking spaces, and this was not included in the prepared plan

Ms. Mohr asked if Mr. Beratlis' lots were overflowing with
parking during the day.

Mr. Beratlis stated that his lots overflow during the evening
hours for the restaurants.

Alberto Falacious, of Alberto's Cantina, spoke in opposition
to opening the parking lots to all owners during the construction.
This would impact his business greatly. He explained the problem
that he has now with people parking in his spaces for days at a
time. He asked Council to reconsider the parking situation.

Roy Moret, 739 Main Street, understood and sympathized with
the City's problem in alleviating the parking situation. His
tenants have not expressed the same concerns shared by the previous
speakers. He commended the Downtown Task Force on a job well done
and the interest it has shown in the community. Mr. Moret
described a survey that the Task Force had conducted regarding the
likes and dislikes of Pleasanton at that time. The survey showed
that nobody wanted to impose a zoning change on downtown
Pleasanton. He believed that the changed zoning imposes a hardship
on the property owners.

Brian Dutchover, 450 Main Street, shared the Chamber of
Commerce's position. He reiterated the concerns with retail only
and was disappointed in the property owners who had expressed their
concerns with community parking on a temporary basis. He commended
staff and the Task Force for the hard work and effort dedicated to
the project.

Sharen Heinz, 780 Main Street, was concerned with the traffic
circulation on Main Street. She explained that when she bought her
property she was told that Ray Street would be realigned to connect
with Peters Street. She was willing to negotiate with Mr. Antonini
regarding the loss of his sidewalk during the construction. She
believed that it would need to be made pleasant during the
reconstruction so that people do not try to avoid it. Downtown is
and has been suffering for quite a while. She asked that the
traffic circulation be top priority. Ms. Heinz asked that her curb
driveway not have a bulge on it.

Dagmar Fulton, Historical Society, asked what was the final
plan regarding the museum. She was told by Mr. Iserson that there
would be no specific plan approved tonight and that it would be
considered at a later date.

11/17/92 20
