184

Meadows. He thought that the pilots have been trying to do the
proper thing by developing a solution called 45 right or 45 left
from take off. The runway has now been extended and the airport is
looking for bigger planes. He felt that there was more to this
issue than just the property that Livermore wants to place in this
protection area. There is the question of what the Airport is
going to be, which has never been addressed. The City of
Pleasanton needs these type of questions answered by Livermore.

Mr. Butler did not disagree with Mayor Mercer's letter and did
not object to continuing this matter. He agreed that the City of
Pleasanton needs to be involved in this process. He cautioned
though that the assumption should not be made that perhaps the APA
was not necessary. He would rather address the issues directly
rather than use the environmental process.

Mayor Mercer directed staff to draft a letter to Livermore
requesting that the 1988 Citizens Committee be implemented. The
City of Pleasanton also requests that this item be taken off of the
Airport Land Use Commission agenda and ABAG's agenda until such
time as the City of Pleasanton, City of Dublin, Alameda County, and
City of San Ramon could meet and gather information.

9.
