155

Mr. Tarver objected to the design of the pots. He believed
they were too "Grecian". Mr. Higdon indicated the pots could be
add later but the City would get a better price if they were
included in the entire bid package. He further indicated staff
must know if the planters would be included in order to design the
drip irrigation system. After discussion, it was determined there
would be planters and the design could be decided later.

After further discussion, the consensus was to have concrete
benches with metal footing.

With regard to the linear area in front of the museum, it was
decided to do nothing until the design of the front of the museum
is determined. Ms. Scribner suggested ground cover instead of
lawn. Mr. Wright felt the proposed linear park was too busy and
there should be only a few benches with no light poles. A decision
was made not to have the chess tables.

The green color was approved for light fixtures.

The Centennial Committee plan was agreed to in concept. It
was suggested the small vignettes could be on the benches instead
of in the sidewalks. The vertical piece was submitted to the Art
in Public Places Committee for review.

There was also a consensus supporting the concept of the "Buy
a Brick" program from the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

There being no further testimony, the workshop meeting was
adjourned at 7:58 p.m.

~eg~/'~Ezid~o
City Clerk

11/3/92
- 5 -
