Ms. Mohr asked Mr. Madden to describe the landscaping that
would be placed around the mini-warehouse. She was concerned with
landscaping for this building because these types of buildings are
less attractive than those used for retail etc.

Mr. Madden referred this question to the architect, Mr.
Goldsworthy.

Michael Goldsworthy, 633 Abbie Street, Architect, referred to
the plan posted on the bulletin board and explained that the only
difference between the design of the warehouse and the retail
buildings was that the retail buildings had windows. The roll up
doors were located in the back of the building. There would be
approximately 30 feet from curb to building and an elevation change
of approximately 11 feet. He also pointed out where trees would be
added as a condition of approval by the Design Review Board.

There being no further testimony, Mr. Mercer declared the
public hearing closed.

Mayor Mercer asked if the Kaufman & Broad project would have
the utility underground up to this site.

Mr. Swift answered yes.

Mr. Tarver asked if this was going into the former Southern
Pacific right-of-way that Council changed several months ago.

Mr. Swift explained that this was in the area of the former
Southern Pacific Corridor that is not currently owned by Alameda
County. He also stated that Council did change the General Plan to
change the language for what is allowed in the transportation
corridor to delete light rail.

It was moved by Ms. Mohr, and seconded by Mr. Butler, that
Resolution No. 92-182 be adopted, based on a review of an initial
environmental study done for this project and on a finding that no
significant environmental impact would occur as outlined in the
City's guidelines and on a further finding that a negative
declaration is appropriate in connection with PUD-92-06.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Scribner, Tarver and Mayor
Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

9/15/92 6
