He agreed that this
type of concept is appropriate for the City. Mr. Pico felt that
this should be included in the General Plan update
discussions. Mr. Pico suggested establishing a task force to get
input from the senior groups as to what their needs are.

Although Ms. Scribner did not believe that a task force was
necessary, she did want senior input on the project.

Robert Myers, 717 East Angela Street, spoke in favor of this
project. He believed that there is a great need for this type of
facility in Pleasanton. He explained the process he had to go
through to operate his previously owned facility.

Robert Cordtz, 262 W. Angela, shared the same concern thatMr.
Pico expressed in his previous comments. He too believed that
Junipero should be brought into the General Plan.

Ms. Acosta reiterated that this proposal was only at the
beginning stages. Staff was asking for approval of the concept
only at this point.

It was moved byMayor Tarver, and seconded by Ms. Scribner, to
approve the concept to construct and operate a skilled nursing and
assisted care facility on Sunol Boulevard and Junipero Street;
authorize staff to pursue this idea; include Junipero Street inthe
General Plan discussions; and get comments from seniors.

o2/ 6/93 12
