73

Mr. Tarver indicated the information he has been receiving
indicated the general public does not like what is being done
downtown regarding street trees and bulb-outs.

Mr. Pico agreed that he wanted public input. He did not want
to delay the project, but did want to make changes to the bulb-outs
and tree pop-outs. He did not want to remake downtown Pleasanton
so it looks like downtown Fairfield.

Mr. Tarver indicated there were three on the Council in favor
of a bid addendum and directed staff to do so.

It was moved by Ms. Scribner, seconded by Mr. Pico, that the
main tile piece be put in Civic Park and the location of the
vignettes to be determined later.
The vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Mohr, Pico, and Scribner
NOES: Mayor Tarver
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

There was discussion regarding the type of paver to be used
for the "buy-a-brick" plan.

It was moved by Ms. Scribner, seconded by Ms. Mohr, to use the
same material as used in the corners in the secondary walkway and
that the Convention and Visitors Bureau will have some type of fund
raising plan to sell bricks, to be located first in front of the
museum and second at Wayside Park and/or Civic Park.

Ms. Scribner indicated the decision would be to approve the
placement of the bricks, but not necessarily approving the
operation of the program.

Ms. Mohr indicated the operation of the program is not the
concern of Council.

Mr. Pico suggested this item not be acted upon until later.
Ms. Scribner withdrew her motion.

There was discussion about whether the test of a four-way stop
at Rose Avenue and Neal Street would include the bulb-out
configuration to see how it would affect turns.

01/19/93 23
