He was concerned <br /> with the timing and stated that if the design is delayed, the furniture would probably not be in <br /> place until the beginning of 1994. Mr. Higdon suggested that the design be approved and allow <br /> the bid process to begin. <br /> <br /> There was discussion of purchasing some of the furniture at this time and some at a later <br /> time. <br /> <br /> Ms. Scribner asked if any requests had been made to the civic clubs to contribute to <br /> funding this part of the project. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta stated that the civic clubs will be notified as soon as a design is agreed upon. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico asked if there would be an increase in cost if the City purchased half of the <br /> furniture, rather than the complete one. <br /> <br /> There was discussion on the design of the trash receptacles. Ms. Scribner was not <br /> pleased with the design and Ms. Mohr believed that the trash recep~l~ and the planters did <br /> not have to match. <br /> <br /> It was decided to continue this item to the August 3, 1993 City Council meeting to allow <br /> staff time to obtain samples of the materials. <br /> <br /> Item 6b <br /> Review of Pleasanton Sports Lighting and Feasibility Study and Co~ Analysis and <br /> Recommendations for Future Lighted Snorts Fields (SR93:293) <br /> <br /> Gary Smith, Pleasanton Adult Sunday Soccer League, spoke in opposition to the staff <br /> recommendation. (A letter was given to Council). He believed that the City should pursue more <br /> than one of the possible short-term solutions. He stated that the option of adding lights to an <br /> existing park should not be foreclosed. <br /> <br /> Victor Baily, 4565 Black Avenue, spoke in opposition to staff recommendations. <br /> <br /> Lawrence P. Murphy, 2642 Sanderling Way, was opposed to additional lighted fields for <br /> the following reasons: light pollution, noise, late night's, obscene language, trash, safety and <br /> traffic. <br /> <br /> Klaudia Kobelt, 1598 Santa Rita Road, spoke in opposition to this proposal.
