47

Ms. Scribner was concerned about supporting a project without knowing details about
it. She still supported the concept of this project as in the past.

Ed Churlca, 30 W. Neal Street, Suite 10, Pleasanton Railroad Association, described the
project and the support he has received locally. He asked that the City act as the Public Fund
transferring bank. He pointed out that the Association has conducted environmental studies and
has given it to the County for review. He hoped it would be brought to Council when the public
hearing process began.

Chris Quirk, 408 San Roberto Hace, San Ramon, Railroad Association, spoke in support
of this application. He stated that this project will bring 1500 to 3000 people to Pleasanton
twice a month.

Mr. Pico and Mayor Tarver supported the concept of the train coming to Pleasanton.
They both believed that the City should help with the process and support the project. Mayor
Tarver indicated that there has been public hearings and the community is aware of what this
project is.

Ms. Acosta reiterated that staff is asking for direction from Council regarding the support
of this project. The staff report was intended only to give the status of this application.

Ms. Scribner and Ms. Mohr agreed that it was difficult to support a project without
understanding the process and project. Ms. Mohr believed. that the application should be put
together well before being presented.

Ms. Dennis supported the concept and suggested that rather than not supporting this
endorsement, the next endorsement should be made stronger.

It was moved by Ms. Scribner, and seconded by Ms. Mohr, that the City of Pleasanton
make no endorsement at this time.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Mohr and Scribner
NOES: Councilmembers Dennis, Pico and Mayor Tarvet
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

05/18/93 11
