The Walmart application will be reviewed by Council at the <br />January 4, 1994 City Council meeting. <br /> <br /> No action was required or taken by the Council on this item. <br /> <br />6. REPORTS OF THE C1TY MANAGER <br /> <br />Item 6a <br />Review of Interstate Nuclear Services located at Ray Street/Walnut Drive (SR93:449) <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico asked for clarification of the amortization provisions. <br /> <br /> Mr. Swift reiterated that staff is recommending a code amendment to create a provision <br />for amorti~,ation of non-conforming uses on a ease-by-case basis. He explained the factors that <br />must be considered when setting the amortization period. <br /> <br /> Mr. Roush added that another option would be to consider regulating of transportation <br />of radioactive substances through the City. <br /> <br /> There was considerable discussion regarding amortization and other non-conforming <br />businesses. Council also discussed whether the end result should be regulation of this business <br />or relocation of the use. <br /> <br /> Juanita Bianchi, 4105 Walnut Drive, spoke about the noise problem with this location. <br />She was disappointed that a solution has not been reached after 14 years of this same noise <br />problem. Ms. Bianchi asked that Council limit the company's hours of operation. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarvet explained that Council is doing what it can legally. The company has not <br />violated the City noise ordinance. Council may need to consider a change to the City's noise <br />ordinance. <br /> <br /> 12/14/93 - 4 - <br /> <br /> <br />
