Item 6e(2)
Resolution authorizing application for Federal Transportation Equity Act for the 21
Century (TEA21} funds for Corridor Management proiects. (SR99:47)

This item was continued to a special City Council meeting to be held March 9, 1999.

Item 6f
Downtown Specific Plan. (IR99:11 )

This item was continued to a special City Council meeting to be held March 9, 1999.

7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL

Mayor Tarver requested that the pending initiative be discussed at the special meeting on
March 9, 1999 in order to consider putting it on the June ballot.

Mr. Pico had no problem with discussing this on March 9 and putting the initiative on the
June ballot as long as the proper process is followed. He commented that there are other items on
the November ballot.

If the discussion on the initiative was not on March 9, Mayor Tarver felt the discussion of
the Merritt property would turn into a discussion about the initiative, instead of focusing on one
development.

Ms. Acosta said staff needed to prepare a report to Council regarding the advantages and
disadvantages of placing the initiative on the November ballot.

Mr. Pico said even if this issue is on the March 9 agenda it would not give staff time to
properly process the initiative and make recommendations for the ballot language.

Ms. Acosta said that is correct.

Mr. Pico asked if March 9 was too soon to discuss the initiative.

Ms. Acosta said staff would lay out some of the issues.

Pleasanton City Council 2 1 03/02/99
Minutes
