She believed the true characterization of the project did not come forth from the petitioners. Ms. Ayala said the Council needed to work together on the larger issues. She said the School District has purchased a school site and a new school will be available in the fall of 2000, which will take care of this project. This plan is completely consistent with the General Plan. She asked the voters to study the issues, to read all the information and make an educated decision. She supported this going to the ballot. It was moved by Ms. Ayala, seconded by Ms. Dennis, calling for a special election in June 1999.
