She understood <br />PG&E was going to large businesses asking them to curtail their power usage in the summer <br />because they anticipate having brown outs. She thought it was important for PG&E to report to <br />the Council before summer started. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lum said there has not been any more specific information that has been provided. <br />The representatives from PG&E have indicated that they do not believe there will be a brown out <br />concern this summer. There is an urgency to implement an upgrade plan within the next couple <br />of years to avoid a problem in the future. He did indicate to PG&E representative that the City <br />Council is interested in hearing from them as soon as possible. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala would like documentation from the last ten years that states how much power <br />has been used. She felt July was too late to get this information. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti understood there were $15 million worth of improvements that were <br />supposed to start. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lum said there are some improvements that are scheduled this year. PG&E will <br />bring an updated list on July 6. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver asked staff to notify PG&E of the concerns. He felt it was important for <br />PG&E to notify the public as soon as it can. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala mentioned she read an article about solar flares that might impact electrical <br />power. <br /> <br /> Dom Summa, Library Commission Chair, 5816 Corte Margarita, thanked the City <br />Council for its support in adopting the ordinances that establishes the Pleasanton Library and <br />Board of Trustees and for the continued funds in programming and staffing needs. He said as of <br />July 1 the City of Pleasanton will assume responsibility for the library. He mentioned the library <br />would be closed the month of July for refurbishing. He said the services provided to the public <br />during this time are as follows: starting June 10, books will not need to be returned until August <br />7; a reading room will be established somewhere in the City to allow people to read magazines <br />and newspapers; books can be reserved through a computer system; summer reading programs <br />will be established at the school sites; and the Book Mobile will continue to operate. He <br />presented the City Council with new library cards and urged patrons to pick up application forms <br />for the new cards in the library. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver appreciated the contingency plan to operate the library during the <br />renovation and was certain that everyone would like the new improvements. <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council 6 06/01/99 <br />Minutes <br /> <br /> <br />
