Mr. Brydon said they could call him at (925) 837-1339 or (925) 855-0312.

Rick Picketing, General Manager, 4501 Pleasanton Avenue, said the Fair Board's
intention in not funding the Fair parade this year was to take a break and then go forward in the
year 2000 with a new, invigorated fashion. The Fair Board is very appreciative of the City's
willingness to form a partnership to organize a parade for this year. It is the goal of the Fair to
serve the community and celebrate what is good in the community, because without the
community there is no Fair. The Fair Board has offered to parade participants free admission on
opening day (June 26, 1999). There has never been any attempt not to be part of the community.
The desire of the Fair Board is to have a parade that is self-sustaining.

Ms. Michelotti asked if there was a problem in using the Alameda County Fair parade
nallle.

Mr. Picketing believed that the parade was a Fair parade co-sponsored between the City
of Pleasanton and the Alameda County Fair Board. The Exchange Club is coming forward
offering its services. He said if the City would like to select the Exchange Club to be the arms
and legs of the parade, the Fair Board would support that decision.

Mayor Tarver really appreciated the Fair Board and the Exchange Club stepping forward.
He did not want to lose the parade along with the fireworks. He hoped that in the year 2000 the
firework issues could be worked out.

Brian Dutchover, 5579 San Antonio Street, supported what the Mayor had to say in
partnering with the Fair Association and what Mr. Picketing had to say in regards to moving
forward with the parade. He encouraged the Council to look forward to next year to breathe new
life into the parade.

6. PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS

Item 6a
PUD-98-18, Robert S. Enea
Application for Planned Unit Development rezoning to PUD-O (Planned Unit Development
- Office} and development plan approval for an approximately 3,300 sq.ft.s two-story office
building located at 3925 Old Santa Rita Road. Zoning for the property is C-S (Service
Commercial) District. (SR99:118)

Brian Swift presented the staff report.

Mayor Tarver declared the public heating open.

Pleasanton City Council 6 05/04/99
Minutes
