parade participants over the years. The surrounding communities have indicated they would be <br />interested in participating in putting together a parade for the year 2000. He said this year the <br />Fair would have many new activities, a special area just for children and a new alcohol <br />management program. He felt it was going to be a wonderful event and encouraged everyone to <br />attend. He said tickets would be available starting in May at a 30% discount. <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala thanked him for working with the Fair Liaison Committee and agreed that <br />there are many good changes happening this year at the Fairgrounds. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti thanked him for keeping the safety of the community first. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis invited the community to give input for the year 2000 Fair activities. <br /> <br /> Mr. Picketing said the Fair exists for the community. This community is continually <br />adapting to change and moving forward in a progressive manner. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico was concemed about the traffic caused by the Fair closing its gates at 6:30 p.m. <br />on the Fourth of July. <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta said a "Public Safety Planning Committee" is working on coordinating the <br />people leaving the Fairgrounds and the traffic on the streets. <br /> <br /> Mr. Picketing welcomed any comments or creative suggestions. He said the goal is to <br />adapt and adjust to the many law enforcement tactics that will be used this year. He does not <br />want to have another episode like the one that happened in 1998. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pico said for several years the Fair has contracted with the Wheels system to provide <br />transit from other public transportation like BART.
