Ms. Mohr referred to the comments about a wildlife museum similar to the Alexander
Lindsay museum in Walnut Creek. She asked if grant money could be found, would San
Francisco consider adding about three acres to the park land near the creek.

Mr. Grote felt this was a compatible use and might be located near the elementary
school.

There was discussion regarding the proposed golf course and its management.

Pierre Bierre, 980 Riesling Drive, believed this property was ideal for a hotel/conference
center/golf course. The remainder of the property could be low-rise residential areas. This kind
of development would not require a new school and would have a lower impact on police, fire,
etc. He asked how much revenue per acre is needed by San Francisco to make the project
work?

Charlotte Severin, 4513 Mirador Drive, noted her concerns about the process taken on
the San Francisco property, the premise that this property must be developed, and the fact that
such a large parcel of land in Pleasanton is owned by another City. She asked if there is any
way that Pleasanton can own the land and therefore have control over it. There has not been
enough compromise, specifically, reducing the number of housing units lower than 1,900; she
has concern with San Francisco operating the proposed golf course; does not agree with
commercial uses; sees no need for the plan to incorporate a large grocery shopping center; and
feels the plan will challenge businesses in Downtown. She proposed such items as a cultural
center, churches, or whatever will not challenge our environment and infrastructure. She
questioned why there is such a hurry to develop this land. Ms. Severin feels it is wrong of San
Francisco to "blackmail" Pleasanton by threatening to develop the property through the County.
She asked if San Francisco would consider selling the land at a reasonable price to Pleasanton.

Sterling Goyer, 4410 Del Valle Parkway, wondered how much is known about the see-
through soundwalls, what maintenance is involved, and what amount of glare would be
generated. He also inquired if any safety precautions were incorporated for the community park
along the railroad tracks.

Lorelei Tolvtvar, 1993 Greenwood Road, spoke about the wildlife on the San Francisco
property and urged that the property remain open space or perhaps have a nature museum on
a portion.

Patricia Stillman, 2934 Killcare Rd., Sunol, stated that the proposed development will be
devastating to Pleasanton and asked if this could be placed on the ballot for the voters of
Pleasanton to decide the acceptability of the project. She also asked if San Francisco went
through the County to develop, could there be a referendum on that action.

Mayor Tarver asked Mr. Roush to speak to this subject.

12/11/95 - 3 - City Council Minutes
