Don Norman, 7878 Knollbrook Drive, stated that the Business Park is a good area for
this type of storage facility, especially since it is close to the Hacienda and Santa Rita off ramps.
Pleasanton's zoning ordinance for a warehouse of this type is a light industrial commercial area.
('He presented the Council with 15 pictures of storage warehouses and each one was in a light
industrial area.) Every one of the storage warehouses is in an area that is not residential. (He
showed pictures of 5A Rent-A-Space in Alameda that he said shows someone running a business
out of there and another with a man working on his car, taking tools and parts out of his storage
space.) He stated that this building will block views and will be misplaced in the scenic
corridor. He asked the Council to deny the Knuppe appeal.

Sandy Reshes, 7812 Chestnut Way, stated that he is opposed to having his neighborhood
ruined. He asked Council to avoid the political pressure and oppose the Knuppe appeal.

Cindy Jervis, 5637 Baldwin Way, stated she purchased her condominium because of the
aesthetics of the location and if this proposal had been known, she would not have purchased
it. She does rent storage space in a commercial area of Pleasanton, but would not move her
belongings to 5A even though it would be more convenient. She asked if the City could trade
properties with the Knuppes for another in Pleasanton that is already zoned commercial. She
felt that this property should be used for a park similar to the one on Muirwood. She asked the
Council to vote against the Knuppe appeal.

Art Sosa, 7747 Chestnut Way, felt this is a neighborhood community and that this type
of structure did not belong. He asked the Council to vote against the Knuppe appeal.

Manuel Silva, 7750 Chestnut Way, stated he is a police officer (Narcotics Division) in
Alameda County. It is not uncommon for this type of facility to house and store chemicals that
are used in the manufacture of drugs. In his undercover operations, major drug dealers
discussed how these various warehouses are used for this purpose. He asked the Council the
deny the Knuppe appeal.

Gene Finch, 8019 Jorgensen Lane, stated that this facility does not belong in this
particular community.

Rich Thompson, 7635 Maywood Drive, stated that the neighborhood is not satisfied that
the noise, traffic and impacts have been addressed and fully mitigated. When you combine all
the considerations in the staff report, he felt that it was the correct decision to reject this project.
He urged the Council to represent the people of the Stoneridge area and reject the project.

John de Sousa, 7028 Chestnut Way, did not feel this facility would be in a proper area
for bringing up children.

In response, Martin Knuppe stated he was a 5A Rent-A-Space partner and contractor for
the Knuppes. Their facilities do not store hazardous wastes, paint and landscape materials; in

08/01/95 -8-
