Ms. Mohr became ill and left at 10:00 p.m.

Item 6a
RZ-94-06, Signature Properties - Annlication to amend Section 18.96.090 of the HeaSantOn
Municipal Code (Temporary Subdivision Signs) to create nrovisions to allow more than two
Off-site directional si2ns and more than one on-site temporary subdivision sign for
advertising residential subdivisions. (SR 95:154)

Brian Swirl presented the staff report.

Ms. Michelotti asked if there were any provisions for small directional arrows.

Mr. Swift stated that the Code does not provide for arrows or signs anywhere within the
public right-of-way and if such a sign is located on private property, then it counts as one of the
two off-site directional signs that any one project is allowed.

Ms. Michelotti asked if that has been a problem in the past?

Mr. Swift stated that the Pan-Cal project would fall into that classification since there are
multiple turns to get to the model homes. One of the major changes being recommended for
the first time is that there be one sign per existing lot be allowed so you won't have multiple
_ signs on a corner. This forces the developer into using reader board signs so up to four signs
can go on the reader board.

Mr. Pico asked that if there are any potential problems with any of the items coming up
that need a three vote majority, they could be continued until the next meeting.

Mr. Roush stated that Item 6k would be the second reading of the ordinance for Chevy's
restaurant and that Item 6c - Ghorbani would also be an ordinance.

Jim McKeehan, 6612 Owens Drive, represented the applicant. He stated that he had no
problems with the recommendations that the staff put forward.

It was moved by Ms. Michelotti, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, that Ordinance No. 1657
be introduced, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof, approving the
application to amend Section 18.96.090 of the Municipal Code to create provisions to allow
more than two off-site directional signs and more than one on-site temporary subdivision sign
for advertising residential subdivisions.

06/20/95 -13-
