Mayor Tarver thought there has been commitment to the downtown area and there is no <br />question that the Council wants to encourage and assist in any way it can. He believed that the <br />funds are not significant to find. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Mohr, seconded by Ms. Michelotti, to approve the Human Services <br />Commission recommendations. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Michelotti, and Mohr <br />NOES: Councilmembers Dennis, Pico and Mayor Tarver <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> The motion failed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mayor Tarver, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, that Resolution No. 95-60, <br />be adopted, to approve the Human Services recommendation to apply $5000 to the Housing <br />Rehabilitation project; to maintain $6500 in CDBG funding for ECHO's Housing Counseling <br />Services; to direct the staff to continue to develop a downtown grant program with <br />recommendations on funding; and to request The Center to resubmit an application as part of <br />the youth program funding process. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Dennis, Michelotti, Mohr, Pico, and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Item 6e <br />ReCommendation for use Of undesignated City funds to nrovide assistance to various <br />community programs, and recommendation that available City funds be se2re~,ated into <br />selected program categories (SR95: 182) <br /> <br /> Dolores Bengtson presented the staff report. <br /> <br /> Ms. Mohr asked if in categorizing the programs this way, would there be any reason to <br />believe that there might not be enough applications for each category? <br /> <br /> Ms. Bengtson stated it would be a surprise if the Council set a spending level at $70,000 <br />and did not receive enough applications to use or exceed the funding. She stated that the Youth <br />Program Funds would be the one to promote new ideas. It will encourage youth development, <br />will promote creativity, and she thought if various groups knew the funding was available, they <br /> <br />06/06/95 14 <br /> <br /> <br />
