Mayor Tarver asked if the Planning Commission recommended that the sign be less than three feet. Mr. Swift stated that the Commission's recommendation was a three foot sign that was not illuminated. He stated it would be visible only during the day time hours. Ms. Miehelotti felt that the non-illumination is appropriate. She indicated the design of the sign is complimentary to the building. Mayor Tarvet felt that the Council should follow the Planning Commission recommendation. It was moved by Ms. Dennis, and seconded by Ms. Mohr, that Ordinance 1655 be reintroduced to include option 2, the Planning Commission recommendation for a non- illuminated sign. Ms. Mohr asked if the staff recommendation is the original Human Services Commission recommendation. Ms. Dennis asked if staff requested The Center to restructure its request for support. Ms. Bengtson stated that she assumed that if the undesignated funds were made available in some form, they would service young people. Persons could apply for those funds or the programs could be funded through the General Fund. Mayor Tarver stated that the Tri-Valley Haven received a fantastic grant and may continue to receive funds based on legislation yet it was requesting $15,000 with this proposal. 06/06/95 12
