This town has a tree called the "Inspiration Oak", which was over 500 years old.
Rather than sell his property for a park to preserve this tree, the property owner hired someone
to make a cut around the tree to kill it. The community came together to in efforts to save this
tree and hence, it got the name "Inspiration". Mr. Pico was pleased that the City has adopted
an ordinance to preserve its heritage trees. He quoted "The trees are the guardians of the earth
and we are the guardians of the trees. ~

Ms. Michelotti referred to the fundraising efforts for a heart transplant for four year old
Sara Lipari. Pat Kearnan joined Ms. Michelotti in helping the parents and their neighborhood
organize the project. Mr. Kearnan worked with Mr. Lipari's company to raise its self-insurance
limits from $100,000 to $300,000 to cover the cost of the heart transplant. There will still be
additional expenses. A heart became available and Sarah had a successful surgery. Ms.
Michelotti expressed her pride in Pleasanton for helping these new residents and for its
community support. She indicated funds are still necessary for ongoing medical expenses and
indicated where contributions could be made.

Mr. Kearnan indicated the name of Mr. Lipari's company is GM Nameplate. Mr.
Kearnan also indicated his pride in living in Pleasanton and the willingness of the citizens to
contribute to the community.

2.
