Deborah van Overbeck, 5910 Ascot Drive, Oakland, a lot owner at Golden Eagle,
supported the comments of Mr. Springer. When she bought her property a year ago,
there were no unresolved geologic issues. She still does not understand what caused this
cloud to be raised. She referred to the notice on May 17, 1994 that there would be a
committee formed. That was canceled and she has had no contact since then about this
committee. All this seems to have arisen since Mr. Levish gave up his license and a
letter was received from George Reid. It was a good idea at that point to review the
reports and staff and other geologists have repeatedly reviewed the documents and
recommended that everything continue as is. She asked Council to discontinue its current
action. If that is not done, perhaps it should consider compensating the homeowners who
are losing money in that area.

Bob Hayden, 8516 Lupine Court, indicated when he built his home, there was no
indication of a geologic problem. If all this goes through, who is going to reimburse the
$1.4 million he spent on his house, since he does not believe he will be able to sell it.

Mike Hornig, 7933 Winged Foot Court, is currently building a house in Golden
Eagle Farms. He believes Council does not trust staff. The staff has gone to
considerable review and evaluation before concluding that the previous work was
satisfactory. Council now rejects that opinion. Mr. Hornig asked why Council is not
concerned about the areas surrounding the Golden Eagle development. Is Council really
concerned about safety, or does it merely want to slow down growth on the ridge.

Judy Nixon, 8048 Golden Eagle Way, indicated she has lived in Pleasanton 18
years and this is the second custom home she has built. She complimented Brian Swift
and Gary Smith for their cooperation. She does not believe there is a problem with the
land. Her biggest problem is with bicyclists racing down the hill by her house.

Pat Gaffney, representing Serena Delevati, 1531 Honeysuckle Court, indicated his
clients have very strong feelings about this issue and believe the GHAD is too costly.
He is concerned this action is devaluing the homes and City funds should not be spent on
further reevaluations of geologic studies. Staff is satisfied with the work done and
Council should leave it at that.

Oscar R. Roesler, 3308 Prairie Drive, reiterated the comments of prior speakers.
He wanted Council to see his children, who will be impacted by all this.

David A. Block, 8506 Lupine Court, indicated he was very angry over this issue.
He explained the history of his family before moving to Pleasanton and stated Pleasanton
represented a place to raise children. He felt there was a sense of community. He then
- stated he had to pay $40,000 before any work was done on his lot; he had to post a

03/07/95 10 -
