Mayor Tarver presented to Karin Mohr commendations from the Alameda County Waste
Management Authority, the City of Danville, and the City of Pleasanton, along with the Key to
the City.

Ms. Miehelotti expressed her appreciation for Ms. Mohr's service to the City of
Pleasanton and to regional boards and commissions. She stated Ms. Mohr set an example as the
first woman in the Valley to be elected as a Councilmember.

Jack Hovingh, 4250 Muirwood Drive, also commended Ms. Mohr and, together with
Ms. Michelotti, presented a bouquet of flowers to Ms. Mohr.

Ms. Mohr thanked everyone for the kind words and gestures of appreciation. As the last
of the "old guard", she trusted that the new Council will keep the City in good shape. She
indicated the 1980's were the most dynamic and exciting years the City has ever seen and cited
the accomplishments during that period, including: Hacienda Business Park, Pleasanton Sports
Park, new library, new Police Department building, renovated Main Street, Amador Theater,
new corporation yard, new Senior Center complex, tennis complex, numerous neighborhood
parks, new fire station, fire training tower, completion of the Valley/Bernal loop road, new
neighborhoods which brought in new friends and neighbors who now volunteer to serve the
community, and the Wheels transit system which reached one million riders last year. She
believed the recent city survey which indicated a 97 % approval rate validated the actions of the
"old guard" in making Pleasanton a well-built, balanced and financially healthy city with a
quality and character that is envied throughout the state. She also thanked Mr. Pico for his
efforts in getting the Council meetings broadcast live on Channel 30. She gave her best wishes
to the Council.

5. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Bert Felix, 2860 Garden Creek Circle, announced the annual Toys for Tots program
sponsored by the Marine Corps.

4 12/03/96
