5, MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Award to City Employees

Mr. Gus Morrison, Chairman of the Alameda County Congestion Management Agency
(CMA), presented to the Pleasanton city employees a plaque recognizing their contribution and
promotion of alternative transportation and improved air quality through sponsoring the City
employee parking cash-out program.

Gail Gilpin accepted the plaque on behalf of the City.

Mayor Tarver commented that he also agrees with the comments of Mr. Morrison in the
innovative approach and effectiveness of staff to reduce air pollution.

Ms. Michelotti also noted that Pleasanton is a role model in this area and commended
all who participated in the program.

General Plan Recognition

Jack Dove, 3263 Vineyard Avenue, commented that the General Plan Update process was
long and tedious with many individuals involved; and with a very few exceptions, the City
Council and the Planning Commission agreed on the same issues. This was not accomplished
without the great efforts of City staff, and Mr. Dove recommended that there should be some
form of recognition for the planning group and the many volunteers who worked on the General
Plan.

Ms. Acosta advised that plans were being put together for the Council's review and
input.

BART Issues

Angelina Summers, 4750 Sutter Gate Avenue, stated she would like to receive the agenda
in the mail.

Mayor Tarver stated the City Clerk maintains a mailing list of those interested in
receiving one.

Ms. Summers' second comment concerned an article in the Tri-Valley Herald newspaper
dated August 12, 1996, about the BART station. She is opposed to the "ugly red building."
She suggested the cities of Pleasanton and Dublin come together and buy paint (gray, earthtone,
etc.) or seek private collections from residents and/or the Hacienda Business Park in order to
repaint the building.

08/20/96 -4-
