The infrastructure was free and he liked the street layout. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarver indicated that in the city survey, the question was asked whether the <br />community would consider more units in order to get a golf course or community park, basically <br />trading density for community amenities. He also wanted the green area along the railroad <br />tracks, which is a flex area, should be a different color, so people don't assume it is all park. <br /> <br /> Dorene Paradiso, 3168 Paseo Granada, was concerned about the 15 mph speed limit. <br />What controls will support this and deal with aggressive drivers. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarvet did not believe the speed limit will be set at that. It is the design that will <br />influence the speed of the traffic. <br /> <br /> Geoff Cooper, 7534 Flagstone Drive, was pleased the elementary school was moved <br />away from the freeway. He was concerned about noise and pollution exposure when the site <br />had been located near the knoll. He liked Alternative 5 but was still concerned about the <br />density. Regarding the narrow streets, he agreed this could slow traffic, but it was critical for <br />people to have room around their houses to do things they normally do, like park two or three <br />cars on the street. You can't have narrow streets and tiny lots and still give people room they <br />need. He liked the idea of a little coffee shop on the west side. <br /> <br /> Kay Ayala, 4515 Gatetree Circle, liked Alternative 5 which brings all ideas together. <br />She supported going along with the land uses in Alternative 5, but leave flexibility for things to <br />be moved as the plan progresses through the process. She referred to the Laguna West project <br />and felt it failed. However there was one street in the nco-traditional planning that was <br />attractive. She spoke to residents who liked the homes and the alleyways in the back. <br />Unfortunately, it wasn't finished. She wanted to make sure there is flexibility to deal with <br />changes in the market and that areas not be tied to too specific design guidelines. People have <br />varying tastes in homes. She did not want to get into design guidelines at this point, but to go <br />along with the recommendation to accept the land uses and make sure it works so San Francisco <br />has enough units to make it worthwhile. She still wants the lower end for density. She also felt <br />that the length of a street could influence the speed of traffic. She then referred to Laguna West <br />again and how much she liked the location of the Town Hall. However, there was a problem <br />because there was not enough parking near it. <br /> <br /> Bev Javabail, 2113 Cascara Court, praised Alternative 5. She was concerned about how <br />close some of the high density homes are getting to the creek and how that will affect recreation <br />purposes. She then suggested a demonstration farm such as Ardenwood in Fremont to be <br />located in the 33 acres of park near the railroad tracks. <br /> <br /> Cindy McGovern, 9206 Longview Drive, liked Alternative 5 and thanked Mr. Calthorpe <br />for working with San Francisco to develop it. She still wanted the road crossing the railroad <br />tracks to be an underpass. There could be more housing for San Francisco to develop and she <br /> <br />05/21/96 -10- <br /> <br /> <br />
