(SR97:344)

e. Approve transfer of ownership of police canine "Bill" to Officer Scott Mullin.
(SR97:342)

Officer Scott Mullin was present for the transfer of ownership. Officer Mullin
said canine Bill has been with the department since 1991; he mentioned several
of the dog's accomplishments.

Mayor Tarver said the City appreciated Bill' s efforts and the officer' s tatting care
of the animal upon Bill's retirement.

Ms. Acosta mentioned it takes considerable time and personal commitment for the
officers to take on the responsibility of a police dog, to make sure it is properly
trained. Therefore it becomes a special relationship between the officer and the
animal. The City has found the most productive thing to do is to allow the
officers to adopt animals when it is time for the animals' retirement. She thanked
Scott for his commitment in helping the program work.

Pleasanton City Council 12/02/97
Minutes 2
