MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Jean Roggenkamp, Planning and Transportation Manager with the Bay Area Air Quality <br />Management District, gave a presentation on "New Regional Air Quality Standards for Ozone <br />and Particulate Matter". She said the mission of the District is to achieve clean air and to <br />protect the public's health and the environment. She mentioned the EPA has determined that <br />more stringent air quality standards were necessary to protect the public's health. She discussed <br />the damage done from ozone and particulates. The new standard set by the EPA is eight parts <br />of ozone per 100 million parts of ambient air. The levels for particulate matter is 65 <br />micrograms per cubic meter over a 24 hour average and 15 micrograms per cubic meter on an <br />annual average.
