Mayor Tarver appreciated the applicant working with the neighbors. He asked if
affordable housing could be included in the project.

Mr. Winter said there would have to be more discussions with the neighbors. The
neighbors preferred single family dwellings.

Ms. Ayala asked if one unit could be affordable housing.

Mr. Winter said he would be willing to subsidize a unit, but he would like to discuss this
with the neighbors first.

Ms. Michelotti mentioned the first time buyer program. She understood that in order to
qualify, the buyer had to be within a certain income range. She appreciated his willingness to
subsidize one unit. She asked if the colors for the trim could be changed to a lighter color.

Randy Friesen, 4167 First Street, supported the project and asked Council to support it.

Mert Murray, 470 Mavis Drive, said Mr. Winters has been very cooperative and he
supported the project. He urged Council to vote yes.

Brent Wilcox, 3988 Stanley Blvd, for Mary Lou Wilcox, said her property touched the
proposed project. She has no objection to the proposed project. Her concern is with the
proposed park trail. The transportation right-of-way is okay but there could be problems from
a public trail.

John Kimber, 3885 Beacon Avenue, #D, Fremont, representing Mary Souza, indicated
tonight's meeting was the first notice she had received. He said she did not have any specific
objections. He asked if the City of Pleasanton had any control over the Alameda corridor?

Mr. Swift said it is owned by Alameda County. They use it for transportation purposes
and the City has no control over it. There are other issues the City has control over, such as
weed abatement.

Mr. Kimber asked if this project would be tied into the widening of the Arroyo Bridge.
Mayor Tarver said no.

There being no further testimony, the public hearing was closed.

Ms. Ayala agreed with staff s recommendation. She appreciated the developer working
with the neighborhood. She would like to see at least one unit subsidized.

Pleasanton City Council 09/16/97
Minutes 7
