MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Dan Dawson, President of Blairgowrie-Pleasanton Sister City organization, introduced Laurence Blair Oliphant and his wife, Jenny. Mr. Oliphant said it was a great privilege to be visiting the City of Pleasanton. He described the governing body for the community of Blairgowrie. He explained Blairgowrie has a community council, but it has no locai authority. It listens to public opinion and then passes it onto the Perth and Kinross Council. The Perth and Kinross Council is responsible for the local laws. There are no Mayors in Scotland, only Provosts. Jenny Blair Oliphant read a message from the Lord Provost of the governing body. Mr. Oliphant presented Council with a glass paperweight, pen/letter openers and a Scottish Claymore sword. Mayor Tarver thanked the Oliphants and read the inscription on the sword, "To the City of Pleasanton from the Blair Oliphant family of Ardblair Castle, August 1997." He then presented to the Oliphants, Pleasanton City pins and a City flag. Gail Gilpin presented Pleasanton's new City logo, described its origin and the basis for the art work. Bill Ashton, 4728 Amanda Place, spoke about his continued concern with traffic issues on Amanda Place, Genevieve Place and Mirador Drive. Ms. Dennis said she would be happy to meet with Mr. Ashton.
