MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Dan Dawson, President of Blairgowrie-Pleasanton Sister City organization, introduced <br />Laurence Blair Oliphant and his wife, Jenny. <br /> <br /> Mr. Oliphant said it was a great privilege to be visiting the City of Pleasanton. He <br />described the governing body for the community of Blairgowrie. He explained Blairgowrie has <br />a community council, but it has no locai authority. It listens to public opinion and then passes <br />it onto the Perth and Kinross Council. The Perth and Kinross Council is responsible for the <br />local laws. There are no Mayors in Scotland, only Provosts. <br /> <br /> Jenny Blair Oliphant read a message from the Lord Provost of the governing body. <br /> <br /> Mr. Oliphant presented Council with a glass paperweight, pen/letter openers and a <br />Scottish Claymore sword. <br /> <br /> Mayor Tarver thanked the Oliphants and read the inscription on the sword, "To the City <br />of Pleasanton from the Blair Oliphant family of Ardblair Castle, August 1997." He then <br />presented to the Oliphants, Pleasanton City pins and a City flag. <br /> <br /> Gail Gilpin presented Pleasanton's new City logo, described its origin and the basis for <br />the art work. <br /> <br /> Bill Ashton, 4728 Amanda Place, spoke about his continued concern with traffic issues <br />on Amanda Place, Genevieve Place and Mirador Drive. <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis said she would be happy to meet with Mr. Ashton.
