Mayor Tarver asked for a show of hands as to those who are in agreement with what has <br />already been said. <br /> <br /> Many people in the audience agreed. <br /> <br /> Steve Cote, 4295 Barbara Court, had concerns for the safety of his children. He also <br />mentioned the staff report, Item 6d(1), page 6, that notification never went out for the <br />replacement of the original whip antenna. He felt the public should have been notified. <br /> <br /> William Corrin, 4217 Cabernet Court, spoke at great length about the damages of <br />chemicals that at one time were considered to be safe. He said it is Council's duty to protect <br />the residents of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Mary Smith, 4241 Cabernet Court, spoke in opposition to the antennae already existing <br />and those proposed. She did not believe a park was a good location to have antennae. <br /> <br /> Joan Tenbrink, 4265 Mirador Drive, requested there be restrictions on towers and <br />antennae from residential areas. She is concerned with the health and safety of the community's <br />children. The Nature House that sits at the bottom of the proposed site will be holding classes <br />for children ages 3-12+. This is less than 100 feet from the proposed site. She did not believe <br />that children should be exposed to this commercial application in a residential zoned area. Why <br />are health issues being left up to the FCC. She gave examples of exposing people to needless <br />things that harmed them. She stated San Francisco School District has banned all cellular towers <br />from school properties. She presented a letter from Cindy Mackey, stating her belief that there <br />is not a need for extra towers in Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Laila Birkmaier, 4219 Mirador Drive, stated people have a choice as to what they want <br />to be exposed to. She felt she should have a choice as to what she wanted to be exposed to. <br />Antennae should not be placed where she is already living. <br /> <br /> Paul Kmetz, 5635 San Carlos Way, said he is a cellular phone user and does not have <br />good coverage. This tower will help increase the coverage. He chose to live in Pleasanton <br />because of the Hacienda Business Park and its pro-business community. He supported Sprint, <br />Cellular One and any other business wanting to locate in Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Jan Wagner, 4282 Croce Court, said there are new studies that have been done in <br />Germany and Sweden that discovered new, unexpected influences of radiation at very much <br />lower levels. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mark den Broeder, voiced his concerns about low level exposure over a period of <br />time.
