percent. Because there are not enough fields, some child would be left out or put on a waiting
list and would not get the chance to fulfill a dream.

Ashley Smith, 6344 Alisal Street, said there was definitely a need for more soccer fields.

Katie Witeger said there were over 2000 girls in the Soccer Association and this year her
team was state champions. Speaking for the team, she would like to have a lighted sports field.

Ms. Ayala thanked all the children for an excellent presentation.

Chris Kinzel of TJKM traffic consultants showed slides. He explained the proposed
flyover and how it would benefit traffic in other parts of Pleasanton. He said Stoneridge Drive
was designed and included in the General Plan to be a parallel arterial. The roadway was
designed to minimize the direct impact of traffic on the neighborhoods. He disagreed that E1
Charro at 1-580 would be the worst interchange.

Mayor Tarver asked when the flyover would be complete.

Mr. Kinzel said it would be complete in approximately three years from beginning of
construction.

Ms. Michelotti said that in 1986 she saw a presentation on major secondary arterial
routes along 1-580 and 1-680. She asked about the Tri-Valley wide plan which included Dublin
Boulevard and the San Ramon Boulevard extension and the plan for both sides of 1-680 to have
a secondary major arterial.

Mr. Kinzel said that in the 1986 General Plan the secondary major arterial was switched
from West Las Positas to Stoneridge Drive. He said San Ramon Boulevard was being improved
to accommodate more traffic.

Ms. Dennis asked about the extension of Stoneridge Drive connecting to Jack London
and when the Livemore side would be completed?

Mr. Kinzel said the model only showed Santa Rita Roadand the freeway. Stoneridge
Drive in Pleasanton had been built almost entirely by private sector funds. The funds were not
available for the area east of E1 Charro Road and there were no plans in progress.

Ms. Ayala said her concern was with the congested traffic on Santa Rita Road.

Mr. Kinzel said with the Stoneridge Drive extension and connection to E1 Charro it
would improve options for traffic flow.

Pleasanton City Council 04/15/97
Minutes 9
