Ms. Ayala asked Mr. Erickson that if he were to walk up to the average person in
Pleasanton and ask how many houses are being built per year, did he think the person would
know?

Mr. Erichon said the average person probably would not know. But that is his point.
The citizens of Pleasanton should be informed and doing a survey would help to inform the
citizens.

Christine Bourg, 4512 Second Street, said she is concerned about the rate of growth.
She asked Council why projects are being approved that will not be built for twenty years. She
supports Mr. Erickson idea of getting the citizens of Pleasanton opinions on growth.

Nate Meeks, 6387 Paseo Santa Mafia, proposed an alternative solution, which is to let
the business community sit down and try to come up with a response to growth management.

Mayor Tarver said that it would be okay with him for the business community to meet.
He wants to be assured, however, that during these discussions no further growth management
allocations are approved.

Arlene Utal, 712 Bancroft Road, #118, Walnut Creek, said she understood that there are
only two new projects for 1997. She is here to ask Council to let the Suncrest development be
built in 1997. There are 750 units shown on the table but only 600 will probably be built. The
City encourages infill projects to be built first. She has not had any opposition to the Suncrest
development to date. There is a need to build this project and encouraged Council to approve
this development.

Daniel Hale, 3352 Smoketree, representing the Patco Enterprise Project, said that this
project is an infill project as well and only adds ten units. It supports the downtown plan and
he encouraged Council to let it be developed this year.

Joe Callahan, 5674 Stoneridge Drive,//212, supported the idea of the developers
discussing the growth management issues. These meetings could be held in a matter of weeks,
not months. He would like to participate in the process.

There being no further testimony, the public hearing was closed.

Ms. Michelotti requested the items be handled separately.

Mayor Tarver said the items would be handled separately, starting with the growth
management allocations.

Pleasanton City Council 17 3/18/97
Minutes
