to add more traffic congestion on this street doesn't fit. He said that the school needs to be put
where it will work. He cannot support the Negative Declaration or the project.

Ms. Dennis said she has no conflict of interest. Based upon her experience the traffic
issue is quite different at a private school than at public school. She does not believe the
concerns about traffic are warranted. The real issue is the zoning, because something will be
built on this site. This project will be a good neighbor.

Ms. Michelotti said she approached this project with an open mind. The key point to
remember is this is zoned for a public institution and we need to do what is best for the
community. She is opposed to an entrance on Stone Pointe Way. An entrance off Stoneridge
Drive is better. She has been in Pleasanton twenty-two years and understands the importance
of children. She doesn't feel the community is working together. We need to look at the big
picture and she supported the project, but move the entrances.

Ms. Ayala said that she supports the project with the entrance on Stone Pointe Way and
the exit on Stoneridge Drive.

It was moved by Ms. Ayala, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, to adopt Resolution No.
97-20 adopting the Negative Declaration prepared for this project.
The r011 call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, and Michelotti
NOES: Mayor Tarver
ABSENT: Councilmember Pico
ABSTAIN: None

Mayor Tarver commented that he would like to see a break in the median to permit
access off Stoneridge Drive.

Ms. Michelotti asked if there could be a sensor at Guzman to allow traffic to make a safe
U-turn.

Mr. van Gelder commented that it is possible. The street works great right now because
Stoneridge Drive does not go through and a left turn pocket would work very well. If the option
does not work, it could be closed up.

It was moved by Mayor Tarver, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, to add a condition to
provide an opening in the median to create a left turn lane off of Stoneridge Drive.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, and Mayor Tarver.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Pico
' ABSTAIN: None

Pleasanton City Council 11 3/18/97
Minutes
