Vice Mayor Pico declared the public hearing open.

Richard Campbell, Hoover Associates, architect for the project, indicated there were no
exceptions to any of the conditions and understand the traffic problems and concerns. The
developer will work with the community to address those concems.

Ms. Michelotti said her only concern had been with the height of the building, which has
been lowered, and asked how high it was now.

Mr. Campbell said the original design included a penthouse to house the mechanism for
an overhead traction elevator. That has been replaced by an hydraulic elevator and the screen
for mechanical equipment is now only ten to twelve feet. An observer will not be aware of the
screen from the street because it is set back.

Angelina Summers, 4750 Sutter Gate Avenue, asked what the redesigned height of the
penthouse was.

Mr. Pico repeated Mr. Campbell's explanation.

Ms. Summers indicated she had been concerned about the height, which now appears to
be addressed. She commended the developer for adding a deceleration lanes for entrance into
the parking lot and other companies should do the same. Her other concern involved the size
of the parking spaces.

There being no further testimony, the public hearing was closed.

Ms. Michelotti asked about the traffic signal and driveway at Gibraltar Drive and whether
there were traffic circulation concerns.

Mr. Swift stated the existing driveway would be closed and relocated to the existing
traffic signal where there are left turn pockets. The intersection will operate like any other street
intersection. The Traffic Engineer finds this acceptable and staff has no problem with the layout
of the parking lot.

Mr. Pico asked Mr. Gaw if C.M. Centerprop would cooperate with the Civic Arts
Commission for installation of public art on the project.

Mr. Caw indicated he has asked the landscape architect to add that element to the water
fountain area.

Ms. Michelotti was happy the previous item on the agenda had been put to rest. This
project exemplifies how hard it is to quantify traffic from a project. This application in all
-- respects will be an asset to the City of Pleasanton and she is happy it can go forward. She

11 1/21/97
