MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL June 2, 1998 1. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Ben Tarver called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 7:05 p.m. Councilmember Dennis led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. She reminded everyone that today is election day and the polls are open until 8:00 p.m. She encouraged everyone to vote if they had not already done so. She has been impressed with the voter participation in the community. She said election results can be found on the Alameda County's Registrar of Voters web site by going to www.co.alameda.ca.us/rov/index.htm. Ms. Dennis commended Elisa Ng and Christina Lam for their project "The Amazing Powers of Garlic" and for placing fn:st in the Tri-Valley Science and Engineering Fair and placing third in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. She presented to Christina Lama plaque and congratulated her for being a positive role model for other youth in the community. (Ms. Ng was not able to attend the meeting.) 2. ROLL CALL City Clerk Peggy L. Ezidro called the roll, which is recorded as follows: Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Becky Dennis, Sharrell Michelotti, Thomas P. Pico, Jr. and Mayor Ben Tarver. Staff members present were: Deborah Acosta, City Manager; Larisso Seto, Assistant City Attorney; Brian W. Swift, Director of Planning and Community Development; Randall A. Lum, Director of Public Works; Gail Gilpin, Economic Development Manager; Bill ranGeider, Traffic Engineer; and Steve Cusenza, Deputy Director of Utilities. 3. AGENDA AMENDMENTS Ms. Acosta reminded Council Item 4q, conceptual approval for "Main Street Party" events sponsored by the Pleasanton Downtown Association, had been added to the agenda last week.
