MINUTES <br /> OF <br /> THE <br /> MEETING <br /> OF <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> October 20, 1998 <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br /> Mayor Ben Tarver called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 7:03 p.m. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. She paid tribute to the Olsen <br />family for their courage and thanked the community for its response to the Olsens' terrible <br />tragedy. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> <br /> City Clerk Peggy L. Ezidro called the roll, which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Becky Dennis, Sharrell Michelotti, Thomas P. Pico, <br />Jr. and Mayor Ben Tarver. Staff members present were: Deborah Acosta, City Manager; <br />Steven Bocian, Assistant City Manager; Nelson Fiahlo, Assistant to the City Manager; Michael <br />H. Roush, City Attorney; Brian W. Swift, Director of Planning and Community Development; <br />Wayne Rasmussen, Principal Planner; Randall A. Lum, Director of Public Works; Jim Wolfe, <br />Director of Parks and Community Services; and Susan Rossi, Director of Finance. <br /> <br />3. AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br /> <br /> Ms. Acosta said Item 41, City Council's position on Proposition 5 (regarding tribal <br />gaming casinos) and Item 6d, a request to initiate annexation of, and approval of preannexation <br />agreements for, the Fuller and Smathers properties, 4120 and 4126 Foothill Road, had been <br />removed from the agenda; a closed session regarding potential litigation against the County of <br />Alameda concerning the Sierra Club initiative to place on the ballot a measure concerning water <br />transfers outside the Zone 7 boundaries, had been added to the agenda on Friday. <br /> <br /> As for the closed session, Mr. Roush said the issues are (a) whether the vote should be <br />Countywide or only within the Zone 7 boundaries; (b) what the County' s decision in that regard <br />will be; and (c) depending upon the County's decision, whether the City of Pleasanton will <br />decide to contest that decision. <br /> <br />Pleasanton City Council 1 10/20/98 <br />Minutes <br /> <br /> <br />
