<br />MINUTES <br />OF <br />THE <br />MEETING <br />OF <br />THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />September 15, 1998 <br /> <br />6:30 p.m. CLOSED SESSION <br /> <br />Conferred with legal counsel regarding pending litigation: (1) City of Pleasanton v. <br />County of Alameda (Altamont Landfill Expansion); and (2) Lewis v. City of Pleasanton <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Ben Tarver called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 7:03 p.m. <br />He introduced Boy Scout Pack 916. <br /> <br />Boy Scout Pack 916 led the assembly in the pledge of allegiance. <br /> <br />Ms. Ayala read a quote from Roberts Rules of Order: "where there is no law, but every <br />man does what is right in his own eyes, there is the least of real justice." She announced Mary <br />Frances Callan was appointed the new Pleasanton Unified School District Superintendent. <br /> <br />2. ROLL CALL <br /> <br />City Clerk Peggy L. Ezidro called the roll, which is recorded as follows: <br />Councilmembers present were Kay Ayala, Becky Dennis, Sharrell Michelotti, Thomas P. Pico, <br />Jr. and Mayor Ben Tarver. Staff members present were: Deborah Acosta, City Manager; <br />Michael H. Roush, City Attorney; Brian Swift, Director of Planning and Community <br />Development; Wayne Rasmussen, Principal Planner; Randall A.
