Ms. Acosta asked Council to wait until after the first of the year to form the committee.

Mr. Pico said to wait until a midyear status report on the projects. In respect to the
project that was denied, he wanted to let the developer, neighbors and property owner work
together to come up with a viable plan.

Mayor Tarver said the San Francisco Specific Plan is a number one priority and he would
not jeopardize paying a quarter of a million dollars to Signature Properties, so the Vineyard
Avenue Corridor Specific Plan needs to be finished. After these projects are finished he would
like staff to work on the Downtown Specific Plan. He felt the Downtown Specific Plan was
more important than the East Side Study.

Ms. Michelotti asked if people in the Ray and Walnut Streets area were willing to look
at things on their own and explore the possibilities.

Mayor Tarver said if the applicant comes to the counter, staff will work on the proposal.

Ms. Dennis did not want to close the possibility of the applicant working out a solution.
If an agreement cam~ot be reached, then move forward with a Specific Plan.

Ms. Michelotti had a concern with the applicant going forward and trying to find a
resolution by working with the neighbors.

Mr. Adams said the process has already started.

It was moved by Mr. Pico, and seconded by Ms. Dennis, to approve the schedules
for the highest priority projects as set forth in the attached staff report with the corrections
made for the items that staff identified as being completed.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico and Mayor Tarver.
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL

Ms. Dennis said the South Livermore Valley Land Trust would like to give a presentation
and she would like to invite Signature Properties as well to give a presentation on the tiger
salamander habitat.

Ms. Ayala asked if Council was interested in working on the west BART station, along
with the City of Dublin.

Pleasanton City Council 21 09/01/98
Minutes
