Ms. Michelotti said Pleasanton is the envy of other school districts because of the school
impact fee agreement. She said the next designated elementary school is supposed to be built
on the San Francisco property; the issue of reducing class sizes is a separate issue.

Mr. Arkin felt the only option is not to allow any more development until the school
system could support it.

Ms. Michelotti said there is money available to build more schools but the state process
has to be followed. That is where the problem is.

Mr. Arkin asked where all the children would go to school if 600 more homes were
allowed to be built.

Ms. Michelotti said the school on the San Francisco property is estimated to be built by
the year 2000.

Mr. Arkin asked where the estimated 1200 new students from the east side would go to
school.

Ms. Ayala asked him to go to the School Board meetings to express his concern.

Mr. Arkin asked if the plan is to extend Stoneridge Drive all the way to Livemore?

Ms. Michelotti said Stoneridge Drive will extend to E1 Charro Road and at that point it
becomes Jack London to Livemore. Regarding where the 1200 new students would go, she said
there would probably be a school boundary adjustment.

Victoria Holt, 3390 Vermont Place, said she went to the last Planning Commission
meeting and discovered that Staples Ranch had been excluded from the study. She initiated a
meeting with the DeSilva Group that was held on April 6, 1998. At that time, the DeSilva
Group said it would contact her within two weeks. She expressed her frustration because she
has not heard anything as of yet and tomorrow will be thirty days. She did not like the Staples
Ranch plan because it is too aggressive. She said there is an approved plan called the Stoneridge
Drive Specific Plan that the community liked. The approved plan calls for a 17.2 acre
community active use park with medium density homes. The community did not ask for high
density. The plan now is for a 35 acre sp0ns park, 92 flat stacked condos, 42 duets and single
family homes and the cut through traffic to El Charro. She is tired of all the piecemeal
approvals and appealed to the Council for help.

Ms. Ayala asked if the reason Ms. Holt wanted the Staples Ranch included in the east
side plan is because she was against the Staples project.

Pleasanton City Council 14 05/05/98
Minutes
