The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Michelotti, Pico, and Mayor Tarver.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Dennis.
ABSTAIN: Councilmember Pico on Item 4f.

5. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

The presentation regarding the Award to the City of Pleasanton for "Financing Our
Future" Program was continued to the May 5, 1998 meeting.

The City Council honored Dorothy's Florist, a business in Pleasanton that has been in
operation for over 40 years and presented Victor Miller, owner, with a lithograph of the
business.

Victor Miller said he was proud to have his business here.

Mayor Tarver thanked him and appreciated his business in Pleasanton.

Steve Belecky, 3644 Kamp Drive, agreed with Mayor Tarver regarding the Zone 7
expansion and said he would contact him later. He spoke about the cut-through traffic on
Stoneridge once it is connected to E1 Charro.

Mayor Tarver said it is Council's intent to monitor the traffic on Stoneridge Drive, but
the real issue was trying to quantify the kind of cut-through traffic so it could be incorporated
into the traffic model.

Mr. Belecky believed Stoneridge Drive, once developed to a six lane road, will become
a parallel freeway. He understood the reports to say that if the east side is developed the way
it is planned, there will be a 35 % increase in cut-through traffic. He felt the residents wanted
to preserve the quality of life and not become one big city connected to Livermore. He
expressed concerns regarding the issues surrounding the petition drive against Ponderosa and felt
the City should investigate as to what occurred. He said the development is on hold for one
year and what guarantees do the citizens have that this will not happen again.

Bill Tolvtvar, 1993 Greenwood Road, expressed his concerns over children being allowed
to solicit late at night. He wanted to know if an ordinance could be passed prohibiting soliciting.
He believed eight to ten year olds should not be out at 8:30 p.m. going door to door soliciting.
He said his wife called the police and was told the law allows soliciting until ten p.m. He
requested a letter from the City regarding the existing ordinance.

Ms. Ayala has noticed children being brought in by vans for fund raisers. She was
interested too if this was allowed.

Pleasanton City Council 4 4/21/98
Minutes
