Mr. McKrank said no. Ms. Michelotti asked again what would happen if the ramp metering was turned on and the traffic was backing up all over Pleasanton. Mr. McKrank said the idea is not to transfer the traffic from the freeway to the City streets. Mayor Tarver said this is a workshop and a decision would be made on this at a later date. He wanted Caltrans to know his personal opinion is he would lilac an agreement with Caltrans as to who is in control of the meters before he would ask for them to be turned on. He said a corridor plan with CMA where all the cities were in agreement on how it was going to work is different from this situation with Pleasanton. He said staff will work with the City of Dublin and Caltrans to come up with an agreement on a pilot program. He said if this is not what Caltrans envisioned, then perhaps it should be put back on the agenda to see if there is interest in doing something without an agreement. Mr. McKrank said Caltrans is against agreements with individual cities. BUt Caltrans does not have a problem with a corridor agreement through the CMA. Ms. Ayala said it does not have to be done like the other corridor agreement. Mr. McKrank said correct. Mayor Tarver understood that CMA would allow the City of Pleasanton and City of Dublin decide what went into the agreement. The only difference is the agreement is going through CMA rather than individual cities. Mr. Brown asked if the sensors on the freeway worked in coordination with the on-ramps to meter the cars entering the. freeway. Mr. McKrank said yes. Mr. Brown asked if the freeway slows down to five miles per hour does the ramp metering shut down. Mr. McKranl~ said it would depend upon the policy that is developed.
