NJOHN NICOL & ASSOCIATES
D
LAN SCAPE ARCHITECTS
'i280 CMC DRIVE SUITE 3'10, WALNUT CREEK, CA 945q6 (4'15) 9~

December 16, 1987

Michael Fulloral Landscape Architect/Inspector
Department of Engineering Services
P.O. Box 520
Pleasanton, Ca 94566-0802
Re: CENTURY HOUSE IMPROVEMENTS
PLEASANTON, CA

Dear Mike:

This letter is a proposal to provide professional services in connection with
the above referenced project. Our work focuses on the design of
improvements identified by Staff during our site visit on October 16, 1987.
The intent of this project, as explained, is twofold. First, unauthorized use of
the facility will be restricted by installing additional fencing, perimeter
landscaping and an entrance gate. Second, the existing lawn and brick
terrace located at the side of the House will be improved for weddings and
other events with the addition of a gazebo and associated paving, lighting
and landscaping. Minor additions to the landscaping on other sides of the
building is also a part of our work.

It is our understanding that the construction documents to be prepared
under the Contract will not include detailed design of the entrance 8ate and
other foreground area improvements which were referenced in the field. nor
will our work include ezpansion of available parking on site. However. these
added facilities will be identified in a preliminary manner on our design
development documents, thus allowing the City to complete priority
improvements using existing funds available for this project.

SCOPE OF WORK EXHIBIT 'A'
PHASE I: DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

1. Meet with Staff to receive and analyze background information, including
site plan and "as built" drawings for architecture, utilities and other site
improvements. If available, obtain information concerning existing and
proposed peak attendance information for reserved functions.

2. Perform site investigations: take photographs and graphically record
existing conditions pertaining to our work program, e.g. patterns of wear and
use, condition of pavings and plant materials, and sun-shade areas.
