CONTRACT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON AND THE COUNTY OF ALAMEDA FOR ADDITIONAL LIBRARY SERVICES INTENT WHEREAS, curr~nt funding level for County Library services provides for forty (40) open hours per week at the Pleasanton Branch of the Alameda County Library System, and WHEREAS, the citizens of Pleasanton wish to have the Pleasanton Branch Library open more than the County funded forty (40) hours per week, and WHEREAS, the members of the Pleasanton City Council have authorized funding for the increases in staffing and utility costs required to open the Pleasanton Branch twenty-two (22) additional hours for a total of 62 open hours per week; therefore, The City of Pleasanton and the County of Alameda agree to provide twenty-two (22) additional hours per week of library services at the Pleasanton Branch of the Alameda County Library System subject to the following terms and conditions. TERMS AND CONDITIONS 1) Effective Dates: This contract will be in effect from July 1, 1988 to June 30, 1989. 2) Services Described: The County of Alameda agrees to provide seven (7) additional hours of Library Services at the Pleasanton Branch Library each Monday, excluding County observed holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., from July 1, 1988 to June 30, 1989; and fifteen (15) additional hours from October 1, 1988 to June 30, 1989 as follows: Sunday, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.; and Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., excluding County observed holidays. 3) Payments: The City of Pleasanton agrees to pay the County of Alameda $162,013 in four (4) quarterly installments as follows: September 30, 1988 - $43,458.25 December 31, 1988 - $39,518.25 March 31, 1989 - $39,518.25 June 30, 1989 - $39,518.25 The contract amount of $162,013 includes $151,575 for Salaries and Employee Benefits, $6,498 for Communications, $2,675 for Utilities (July 1-September 30, 1988) and $1,265 for Janitorial (july 1-September 30, 1988). An additional $28,738 for Utilities and $12,259 for Janitorial have not been included pending agreement with the City for direct payment of these costs by the City upon the move to the new building. 4) Extension: All terms and conditions of this contract may be extended, by mutual agreement, on a year-to-year basis, provided the amount paid by the City of Pleasanton to the County of Alameda is adjusted annually to reflect increases/decreases to the costs connected with providing the services. 5) Periodic Activity Reports: Activity Repdrts will be provided by the County Librarian to the Pleasanton City Council. Pleasanton City Council may request such reports at any time.
