CONTRACT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> AND THE <br /> COUNTY OF ALAMEDA <br /> FOR <br /> ADDITIONAL LIBRARY SERVICES <br /> <br /> INTENT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, curr~nt funding level for County Library services provides for <br /> forty (40) open hours per week at the Pleasanton Branch of the Alameda County <br /> Library System, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the citizens of Pleasanton wish to have the Pleasanton Branch <br /> Library open more than the County funded forty (40) hours per week, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the members of the Pleasanton City Council have authorized <br /> funding for the increases in staffing and utility costs required to open the <br /> Pleasanton Branch twenty-two (22) additional hours for a total of 62 open <br /> hours per week; therefore, <br /> <br />The City of Pleasanton and the County of Alameda agree to provide twenty-two <br />(22) additional hours per week of library services at the Pleasanton Branch of <br />the Alameda County Library System subject to the following terms and <br />conditions. <br /> <br />TERMS AND CONDITIONS <br /> <br />1) Effective Dates: This contract will be in effect from July 1, 1988 to <br /> June 30, 1989. <br /> <br />2) Services Described: The County of Alameda agrees to provide seven (7) <br /> additional hours of Library Services at the Pleasanton Branch Library <br /> each Monday, excluding County observed holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 <br /> p.m., from July 1, 1988 to June 30, 1989; and fifteen (15) additional <br /> hours from October 1, 1988 to June 30, 1989 as follows: Sunday, 1:00 to <br /> 5:00 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday, 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.; and Thursday, 10:00 <br /> a.m. to 1:00 p.m., excluding County observed holidays. <br /> <br />3) Payments: The City of Pleasanton agrees to pay the County of Alameda <br /> $162,013 in four (4) quarterly installments as follows: <br /> <br /> September 30, 1988 - $43,458.25 <br /> December 31, 1988 - $39,518.25 <br /> March 31, 1989 - $39,518.25 <br /> June 30, 1989 - $39,518.25 <br /> <br /> The contract amount of $162,013 includes $151,575 for Salaries and <br /> Employee Benefits, $6,498 for Communications, $2,675 for Utilities (July <br /> 1-September 30, 1988) and $1,265 for Janitorial (july 1-September 30, <br /> 1988). An additional $28,738 for Utilities and $12,259 for Janitorial <br /> have not been included pending agreement with the City for direct payment <br /> of these costs by the City upon the move to the new building. <br /> <br />4) Extension: All terms and conditions of this contract may be extended, by <br /> mutual agreement, on a year-to-year basis, provided the amount paid by <br /> the City of Pleasanton to the County of Alameda is adjusted annually to <br /> reflect increases/decreases to the costs connected with providing the <br /> services. <br /> <br />5) Periodic Activity Reports: Activity Repdrts will be provided by the <br /> County Librarian to the Pleasanton City Council. Pleasanton City Council <br /> may request such reports at any time. <br /> <br /> <br />
