6.3 Shift and Station Assiqnment~ Shift and station openings and assignments shall be filled on the basis of seniority. Said openings and assignments shall be posted on all station bulletin boards and be open for bid to the entire department. Normal station assignments shall be bid once per year on January 1st based upon shift seniority; officers will bid first followed by firefighters. Firefighters, fire engineers and fire lieutenants will be allowed to remain at one station for a maximum of three (3) consecutive years. Fire captains shall bid three (3) stations during a seven (7) year time span. Mutuals are agreements between employees of the same rank to change shift and station assignments. Mutuals shall be considered trades between the employees involved. There shall be no limit on the number of Mutuals except that if an employee through Mutuals remains at the same station for more than three (3) years, the Fire Chief may temporarily transfer the employee for the purpose of training to another station for a period not to exceed ten (10) shifts. Section 7. Overtime 7.1 Payment Employees who are required to work after completion of their regular shift or are required to work to fill a shift outside his/her regular duty shift shall be entitled to overtime compensation for all hours so worked; provided, however, that the overtime rate shall be computed at one and one-half (1-1/2) times the employee's regular rate of pay in thirty (30) minute increments as follows: One (1) minute through thirty (30) minutes, one-half (1/2) hour's pay at the overtime rate; thirty-one (31) minutes through sixty (60) minutes, one (1) hour's pay at the overtime rate, sixty-one (61) minutes through ninety (90) minutes, one and one-half (1-1/2) hour's pay at the overtime rate, ninety-one (91) minutes through one- hundred and twenty (120) minutes, two (2) hour's pay at the overtime rate, etc. - 11 -
